Nice-ly charmed

There are few places in the world where the second visit deepens the spell it cast the first time. Nice is one of them. I visited Nice with my (then smaller) family in 2015 and fell under its spell. Coming back to it in 2019 makes me wonder why I haven’t moved here yet!

All of Nice looks like an endless patisserie. Its low-rise buildings resemble exquisite frosting cakes neatly laid out along the rues and avenues. The summery colours dazzling against a burning blue sky, their charming balconies, ornate plaster of paris facades around spacious french windows and their imposing wrought iron gates. Living on Rue Longchamp allows me to be Alice right in the heart of this architectural cake wonderland.

If the buildings are cake slices, then here’s a snapshot of the imposing multi-tier wedding cake that Queen Victoria chose to reside at when on vacation here.

Now stop salivating and visit Nice!

What is your best memory of Nice? Which city’s charm have you not been able to resist? Please leave a note below.
