Taking a vacation from our year of travel-schooling

Just a couple of days after writing “Why travel schooling is not just another family holiday”, I am going to prove my point once again by actually taking a holiday. Yes, a vacation from our travel-schooling year.

Tomorrow we set off on a seven day cruise with family, extended family and friends-who-are-like-family to Alaska. There will still be plenty for the children to learn. Yet, the primary objective of this vacation is to sit back and relax, literally. We have planned no educational experiences on this journey, and are just going to let the ocean carry us to interesting places.

Exactly six months since my husband and I both took a sabbatical to have our girls experience learning by visiting/living/immersing in different parts of the world. It has been a lot of work, a lot of patience and a lot of learning for all four of us. We deserve a break, and we are taking it. Looking forward to the next six months of travel schooling once we return. Using the new vocabulary our girls learned in Panama recently, hasta luego!
